October 10, 2019 - White-fronted Nunbird (Monasa morphoeus)
These nunbirds are found in forested parts of Central and South America from Honduras to Bolivia and Brazil. They feed on invertebrates, including crickets, beetles, stick-insects, cicadas, and spiders, as well as small reptiles and amphibians, foraging in pairs or family groups and often joining mixed-species flocks. Breeding between December and May, depending on the area of their range, they dig nest chambers at the ends of tunnels in the ground, lining them with dry leaves. Both parents feed the chicks.
